Some weddings feel elegant because every detail is perfectly polished. Others feel elegant because nothing feels overdone.
Emily and Addison’s Annapolis waterfront wedding at Whitehall was the latter.
Set along the water in Annapolis, Maryland, the celebration paired a coastal-neutral palette with romantic garden-inspired details. Pale green, light blue, slate blue, beige, and lavender created a soft foundation. Layered textures, thoughtful florals, and personal touches brought the design to life.
The result felt refined without feeling formal. Beautiful without feeling precious. Most importantly, it felt completely like Emily and Addison.

Whitehall provided the perfect setting for an Annapolis waterfront wedding. Rather than lean into a traditional coastal aesthetic, we took a softer approach.
The palette drew inspiration from the landscape without trying to recreate it. Pale blue and green blended with beige and lavender. Garden roses, lilacs, peonies, and sweet peas added a romantic, garden-inspired feel.
Guests first encountered that feeling at the tent entrance. Greenery and florals framed the space and created a beautiful transition into the celebration.
Inside, long tables featured floral meadows. Other tables paired hand-painted floral taper candles with elegant compote arrangements. Patterned and textured linens from Reverie Social added another layer of interest.

A wood and white checkered dance floor grounded the design. Above it, shimmering capiz shell chandeliers from Honeywood Tent and Rentals added a delicate glow.
Every element worked together without feeling overly coordinated.
Emily wore an Anne Barge gown with a timeless sweetheart neckline. For the ceremony, she added a long-sleeve lace overlay that brought another layer of romance to the look.
After the ceremony, she removed the overlay.
The gown instantly felt lighter and more playful. It was the perfect look for the celebration that followed.

The menu brought another layer of personality to the celebration.
Linwoods served passed appetizers featuring some of Emily and Addison’s favorite foods. Guests enjoyed Maryland crab cakes, Nashville hot chicken, and fresh seasonal produce.
For dinner, beef tenderloin and locally caught sea bass offered an elegant pairing. Later, sliders and French fries gave guests a late-night favorite to enjoy on the dance floor.
Then came the cake.

Emily had always dreamed of having a Smith Island Cake at her wedding. The Maryland classic, known for its delicate layers of cake and filling, became the perfect sweet centerpiece.
Their signature cocktails added another personal touch. Addison chose a whiskey-inspired drink, while Emily opted for a classic Maryland orange crush.
The details felt distinctly local without ever becoming predictable.
The most memorable weddings usually have a few details guests don’t see coming.
During cocktail hour, Emily and Addison invited guests to take a few swings over the water with a biodegradable driving range experience from Splash City Golf.
It was playful, unexpected, and perfectly suited to a waterfront celebration.

At the bar, a custom monogram from Empress Stationery created another thoughtful focal point. A floral wreath surrounded the monogram using the same garden roses, lilacs, peonies, and sweet peas found throughout the wedding.
That connection was small, but it mattered. The stationery didn’t exist separately from the design. It became part of the larger visual story.

Emily and Addison’s Annapolis waterfront wedding was beautiful because every element felt considered. But it never felt like the details were competing for attention.
The coastal palette complemented Whitehall. The florals echoed the garden setting. The Maryland-inspired food and cake reflected the couple and their home. Even the unexpected moments gave guests another glimpse into who they are.
That’s what we love about thoughtful wedding design.
It isn’t about choosing the most impressive detail in the room. It’s about creating a celebration where every detail has a place and the whole experience feels effortless.
For Emily and Addison, that meant an Annapolis waterfront wedding that felt romantic, welcoming, and distinctly their own.
Beautiful, yes.
But more importantly, it felt like them.
